Flame Detector and Protection System

The flame protection system is based on the feedback information from the flame detector and plays a key role in making decisions and executing protective actions. It is like a combination of the brain and limbs with rigorous logic and quick response ability. Once the flame detector sends a signal of abnormal flame, such as accidental extinguishing of the flame, the protection system will immediately activate a series of preset protection programs. In the generator set of a thermal power plant, if the coal powder flame in the combustion chamber goes out and there are no timely and effective protective measures, the unburned coal powder will continue to accumulate, which is highly likely to cause serious accidents such as explosions. At this point, the flame protection system will quickly cut off the fuel supply to prevent fuel from continuing to enter the combustion chamber. At the same time, the ventilation device will be activated to quickly exhaust any residual combustible gases, avoiding further escalation of the dangerous situation and maximizing the safety of equipment and personnel.
The flame detector and protection system complement each other, jointly building a solid safety defense line. In the large-scale refining facilities of the petrochemical industry, their role is even more indispensable. Numerous heating furnaces, reaction vessels, and other equipment rely on the heat generated by combustion to maintain normal process operation. Continuous and stable flames are the key to ensuring production efficiency and product quality. The flame detector continuously monitors the flame and transmits real-time data to the protection system, which is always on standby to prepare for various sudden flame failure situations. Moreover, with the continuous advancement of technology, the accuracy of flame detectors nowadays is getting higher and higher, which can distinguish the small differences in flames under different working conditions. The intelligence level of protection systems is also improving, which can achieve more accurate and fast protection actions. It can also be integrated with the automation control system of the entire factory, making it convenient for operators to conduct centralized management and remote monitoring.
